03/06/09: HydrAid Biosand Water Filter Conference, Grand Rapids, MI

A Grand Valley student and faculty member attended this conference to learn more about the Biosand Water Filter benefits and limitations.

Biosand Water Filters have been shown to naturally reduce parasites, bacteria and viruses in drinking water. The design and implementation of a Nicaraguan Biosand Water Filter may help millions in need of safer, cleaner drinking water.

In August, 2009, a GVSU student will travel to Ometepe, Nicaragua and begin initial bacterial testing of drinking water. This initial testing is critical in determining if a Biosand Water Filter can purify the drinking water in that area.
